Recreation

Evenings and weekends are spent socializing-playing bingo, dancing going on trips throughout the city and beyond, attending local houses of worship, shopping, swimming and hiking.

Key Benefits

  • When in the city, AABR adults frequent local restaurants, attend Madison Square Garden sporting and special events and go to concerts and activities at community theatres, museums, and the 92nd St.Y.
  • Trips are also planned farther from home- Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, Virginia and a dude ranch are a few of the mini-vacations enjoyed.
  • When not attending neighborhood activities, our citizens plan their own entertainment for the community- a dance and song show at St. John's University and Special Olympic competitions local and statewide.
