Hi-Tech Videoconferencing System on Its Way to AABR

With the approval of the City Council, AABR is poised to receive funding for a state-of-the art video-conferencing system, linking many of its far-flung facilities, located all throughout the metropolitan area.  The new network seeks to minimize staff travel time, increase staff training, maximize client care, while optimizing communication throughout the agency.

In a very measurable way, each hour spent traveling takes away time from client care.  With travel time increasing along with congestion, staff members will no longer have to take a bus or car every time there is a weekly meeting or training.  In addition, the conferencing system will enhance communication between management and staff, especially in case of an emergency.

AABR is one of a few social service agencies in this city to undertake such a technological upgrade.  As presently designed, the network will connect, the Main Office in College Point, the educational facilities of St. Pascal’s in St. Albans and Wellington Hall in Jamaica, along with residential facilities located in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.

Project installation seeks to be completed by early 2008.
